After a rigorous selection process, Dr. Xue Yu’s PhD thesis, “The Concept of Public Interest”, won the Outstanding PhD Thesis Award of FLL. Dean Tong Io Cheng,  Chair Professor Yu Xingzhong, Associate Dean Iau Teng Pio, Director of Centre for Law Studies Manuel Trigo, Head of Department of Macao Legal Studies Li Zhe, Head of Department of Global Legal Studies Rostam Neuwirth and Professor Zhai Xiaobo, along with other professors and students, attended the award ceremony.

Tong Io Cheng said that the Faculty of Law established the Outstanding Thesis Award to encourage students to engage in high-level academic research and to support the publication of their theses. On behalf of the Faculty of Law, Tong extended warmest congratulations to Dr. Xue Yu. Tong hopes all students will follow Dr. Xue Yu’s example, striving for excellence in their future thesis writing and producing more outstanding work.

Yu Xingzhong congratulated Dr. Xue Yu and said that the selection process took several months, involving strict anonymization and recusal arrangements to ensure fairness. Yu thanked all the committee members of the evaluation process.

Dr. Xue Yu expressed his gratitude to Tong Io Cheng, Yu Xingzhong, Fan Jianhong,  Wang Wei, Wang Chao, Zhai Xiaobo, Shui Bing, and others. Dr. Xue Yu wished all students a joyful and fulfilling academic journey.
