Academic Career

Graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (Portugal), where she also completed a Master’s degree in Administrative Law. She further holds a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), awarded by Cambridge, with a high pass classification. Her academic background combines solid legal training with pedagogical qualifications, supporting her teaching activities in both Portuguese and English.

Professional Career

Cláudia Magalhães has been admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association since 2015 and developed her professional career as a Legal Counsel at the University of Porto, a position she held from 2018 to 2026.

In this role, she provided legal support within the higher education sector, issuing legal opinions in areas such as Administrative, Tax, International, and European Law. Her work is characterised by the application of comparative legal methodologies and a strong focus on regulatory compliance and academic governance.

She was also responsible for reviewing and negotiating contracts and institutional agreements, including international cooperation protocols, contributing to the University’s engagement in multicultural and cross-border contexts.

Her international experience includes representing the University of Porto in academic and institutional events abroad, namely at Incheon National University in 2025 and in Vienna in 2019, fostering partnerships with universities worldwide.

Prior to this, she completed a legal internship at “Gonçalves e Associados – Law Firm” (2016–2018), where she was involved in legal proceedings, drafting submissions and supporting client representation in Civil, Criminal, and Corporate Law matters, as well as providing legal consultancy in contracts, compliance, and risk management.
