On the afternoon of June 22, Prof. Liu Jianhong, Distinguished Professor of Faculty of Law, University of Macau, was invited to give a seminar for the Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford on the theme of “The State of Criminological Studies in East Asia” through the Zoom online meeting. The seminar was organized by the Southernising Criminology Discussion Group of the Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford, which aims to extend criminology’s gaze and horizons. Prof. Liu’s speech elaborated the current situation of criminological studies in East Asia, which mainly fall into four categories of research topics: criminal justice articles, crime research articles, articles on theories, and articles on methodology. Then Prof. Liu proposed the approach and strategy to rectify Western centric Bias. Prof. Liu’s speech received an enthusiastic response. In the Q&A section, the scholars who attended online asked Prof. Liu questions actively. Finally, the meeting ended successfully!
